AboutMy two passions in life are my career and exploring the world. I currently reside in New Hampshire and attend Elmira College in Upstate New York. New England is home to many beautiful sites including the White Mountains, Green Mountains, and the Appalachian Trail. I often photograph the nature and scenery that surrounds me. I enjoy hiking, and spend my free time exploring the various possibilities that are at my disposal. I take my camera on each hike that I do. I photograph the summit of course, but I also photograph along the way. The hike is about the entire journey, not simply the finish line. With that said, I take a limited number of photos on the trail because my time spent in nature is an escape from the hustle and bustle of the modern world. It is a time for me to clear my mind and find myself. I still want to share what I find most wonderful in this world. As I mentioned previously, I am passionate about my career as well. I am finishing nursing school this Spring. Hiking and photography complement this by being healthy activities and outlets for stress relief.
Over the past 6 years I have used a digital Nikon Coolpix S9100 to capture my experiences. Simple camera models such as this make it possible for beginning photographers to capture quality photos. Taking a photography course his term has been a journey down a new path. I fell in love with a new way of creating photos. The ironic things is- this is in no way a new art form. I have great respect for the founders of fine art photography who demonstrated the skill and talent required to master 35mm film and darkroom techniques. I look forward to mastering B&W photography more next term as I embark on an independent study! More about my style, technique, and inspiration can be found here. |
